Ah, October. A cozy, brisk month that calls to mind turning leaves, woolen sweaters and afternoons spent sipping cider. Except when it doesn’t. Like today, when, after a week of cool, rainy days, we in the fair city of New York are looking at a balmy high of 81°. A circumstance that begs the age-old conundrum: How on this sweet earth is one expected to get dressed in the morning? Sure, it’s toasty mid-day, but those temperatures are going to drop once the sun sets.
Our go-to strategy this time of year? Layering. We start the day with an easy-breezy top and crisp jeans, and then, as happy hour approaches, throw on a strategically stashed sweater or two. Et voila: No more see-sawing between too cool or too hot.
