Not just any vintage watch, mind you, but a quintessentially classic one from the 1950s. The gold facing, the gently worn-in leather strap. Almost as cool as the watch itself is the original owner of said watch (or so I like to imagine): An immaculately dressed businessman, perhaps, working in Manhattan and commuting from a cookie cutter house in the burbs, replete with a picture-perfect wife and 2.5 kids, a la Brad Pitt in Tree of Life or, of course, Jon Hamm in the early years of Mad Men. Whoever the original owner was, I know who the new owner should be: My deserving dad.
(Buy this watch, and/or shop other vintage goodies like it.)
