Some people have their favorite seamstress, I have my can’t-live-without shoe cobbler: The Cowboy Boot Hospital in New York’s Nolita neighborhood. You see, I’ll often come across a great shoe steal on MYHABIT, but the color or size might be off. Yet instead of passing on the purchase, I go for it, and then take those size-too-big shoes to my beloved cobbler to get them taken in. He magically revamps the shoes to perfectly fit my feet. He transforms my beige shoes into black shoes. He restores and resoles my vintage Ferragamo boots. An all-around instant update for my shoe wardrobe.
Moral of the story? Locate a skilled cobbler in your neighborhood, and have them transform your shoes to the perfect fit. (And for all you New Yorkers, I can’t recommend The Cowboy Boot Hospital, 212-941-9532, enough.)
