My husband loves concerts, can’t get enough of ‘em. Which is all well and good (who doesn’t like live music?), but presents somewhat of a recurring problem for me, as it did last Friday. We had some sweet tickets to the Bruce Springsteen concert at Madison Square Garden, and when getting dressed that morning, I found myself staring blankly into my closet. What type of outfit, exactly, does one wear that is appropriate for work AND, immediately following, a night out at a concert?
There are so many factors here: I need to look presentable for work, but I want to wear something fun for the concert. Heels are out, thanks to the crowds and beer-puddled floors at the venue. And my bag: I don’t want to lug a huge tote around with me all night long. After pondering for about five eternal minutes, I reached in and pulled out what will now officially my go-to solution for this problem going forward: A cute short sleeve top, a pair of cuffed skinny jeans, ballet flats and a cross-body bag. Professional enough for work on a Friday, but chic enough for a night out, and practical enough to efficiently navigate the insanity that is a 20,000-person Bruce Springsteen concert on a Friday night in New York City. Thoughts? Am I onto something here, or do any of you have a foolproof ensemble I should give a whirl next time?
PS: The concert itself was epic, by the way. If you haven’t seen The Boss live - get on it.
