Cobbling is designer Alejandro Ingelmo’s birthright. A descendant of Salamancan shoemakers, Ingelmo grew up in Miami before making his way to New York and launching his eponymous accessories company in 2006. His high-voltage heels for women, as well as his super slick trainers and shoes for men, have made him a favorite among both ladies and gents, as well as fellow fashion designers—perhaps the greatest compliment of all.
Here, the dapper designer discusses his penchant for sweets, disdain for flip-flops, and his bad habit of not writing things down with MYHABIT.
What’s the one habit you have that’s changed your life for the better?
About eight years ago, I decided to start living my life from a different perspective. I made a habit of thinking about one thing every week that I wanted to achieve in my life. It changed my life and the way I look at things today.
What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
Food! I love everything sweet.
What’s the one habit you have that’s not so great?
Not writing things down. I am visual person so I always need to see things. I missed a couple of important meeting and flights because of this.
What style habit should every woman adopt?
Less is more.
A woman should always invest in a pair of good shoes.
What style habits should every woman break?
Showing too much toe-cleavage.
Also, flip-flops should only be for the beach or after you get your nails done. Anything else is unacceptable.
