Who better to dish about habits both naughty and nice than Beauty Sweet Spot’s Jeannine Morris? Founded by Morris in 2009, the site brings together a host of guilty pleasures like beauty, style, fitness, and, yes, men, in one must-visit place. Her ability to cover such a wide variety of topics is likely a credit to her time spent at Cosmopolitan, where she began her writing career. Morris’ effervescent personality comes across not only in her writing (where she covers new products and bad celebrity haircuts with aplomb), but also in her television appearances. Stints on the red carpet for E! and a role as a resident expert on the Today Show helped bolster her status as a true lifestyle guru. But don’t take our word for it: Glamour recently named Morris one of the top beauty and style bloggers in the world. Here, Morris shares some of the positive habits that keep her on top of her game with MYHABIT.
What’s the one habit you have that changed your life for the better?
I read The Secret, and, as crazy as it sounds, the theory works. It’s the law of attraction, and I live my life by it. I’ve changed the way I think, and I make sure all of my thoughts about the present and future are positive. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it.
What’s the one habit you have that’s not so great?
Allowing my anxiety to get the best of me sometimes. It’s wasted energy that I need to learn how to deal with.
What’s your naughtiest habit?
Even though I’m a beauty blogger, I sometimes can’t help but bite my nails!
What’s your secret (or not-so-secret) style habit?
If I find a piece with potential, I’ll overlook anything about it that doesn’t quite work and change it to fit my personality. A lot of times I’ll change the buttons on jackets to ones I’ve collected so it feels more like me. Then I fall in love with it.
What’s a habit every woman should have to stay sane?
Every woman needs to make it a habit to find time for herself. I take my time at the gym: I leave my iPhone behind and allow myself to breathe while getting lost in my music and workout.
What three style habits should every woman adopt?
Mix high and low. I often throw on a designer pair of shoes with an outfit that costs less than $100. I do this with my beauty regimen too by mixing drugstore products with more luxe ones.
Make investments. Identify investment pieces and splurge once in a while. They’re classic and timeless, and will carry you through the years.
Be wary of trends. Don’t worry about trying every trend. They’re not for everyone. Flirt with trends when you feel they’re appropriate for your personality, but know that it’s OK to ignore them too.
